An FBI investigation led to the arrest of former Encanto Elementary School third-grade teacher Gabriel Chacon. Chacon was charged with accessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials involving a 12-year-old.

According to court documents obtained by Arizona’s Family, Chacon denied being “hands on” with a child and told the FBI he only fantasized about the contents.

Under the username “ND Dom,” Chacon, asked the participants in a group chat “what would you do?” if they were teachers and had “three hours to kill alone in your classroom.” In response to one participant who asked for content, Chacon responded, “Yeah man I’ll send you my faves.”

Investigators discovered the group chat existed for the purpose of viewing and sharing child pornography when Chacon unknowingly sent “federally chargeable” images to undercover investigators overseas. He was apprehended after US authorities traced the online profile to a phone number and social media account registered to Chacon.

The district is facing backlash for waiting a full week before publicizing Chacon’s arrest. Reports say parents were initially notified about Chacon’s administrative leave, not the full nature and context of his illegal behaviors. Although some parents believe their children were not directly harmed by Chacon, many are still concerned about the images in his possession and why the district delayed notification.

Chacon denied having any sexual contact with students in the Osborn School District. He attended a preliminary hearing on October 16. However, no new information about the case has become publicly available.

About 38 victims have been identified by law enforcement, and parents are demanding answers, after Corona del Sol High School employee Antony Cruz was arrested on charges of voyeurism. Cruz allegedly viewed and downloaded videos of partially dressed students in July 2026.

According to media outlets, female students changed clothes in a temporary facility during locker-room renovations. Tempe Union High School District (TUHSD) later clarified that security cameras were installed two years ago in a dance studio—which was never intended as a changing area. Reportedly, The cameras were “inadvertently” left running despite employees alerting the district.

Emails obtained by 12News via public records request reveal that an assistant principal and dance program director at Corona del Sol notified multiple employees about student privacy concerns soon after the cameras were installed in 2024. They had asked why security cameras were pointing into the dance room instead towards the parking lot.

TUHSD citizens claimed during a September 2026 board meeting that requests to remove the cameras had been denied by the district. One speaker said the public was misinformed about this being a one-time incident and that administrators—including Superintendent Stacia Wilson—were aware of privacy issues on campus. Another speaker said Cruz was “one of many” surveillance officers who had watched students undress for years.

Cruz confessed to viewing and downloading the videos, but told police he hadn’t shared or sold the images. Tempe Police Department has recommended 100 new charges against Cruz, including 98 charges of voyeurism and two counts of bestiality. As of publication, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is reviewing Tempe PD’s recommendations.

Since the start of the 2026-27 school year, several employees have been accused of child sex crimes involving surveillance or internet technology.

In August 2026, Chester Cox, a former teacher at Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary in Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District, was arrested after he reportedly installed cameras in his classroom and student bathrooms. The footage found on Cox’s electronic devices revealed he had secretly recorded children for several months without their knowledge.

Cox also faced charges of sexual misconduct with a minor and child molestation. The mother of an 11-year-old boy said that her son had been molested by Cox when he worked as a youth coach. However, the alleged abuse was reported to have happened off campus.

Other incidents include former Great Hearts Trivium Prep Academy teacher Samuel Durham Cooper, who was arrested for downloading and sharing child sexual abuse materials. He was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Reno Ferris, a seventh- and eighth-grade PE teacher at the Global Academy of Phoenix, now faces two felony counts of furnishing obscene material to minors after he sent obscene photos to a former teenage student.

Parents should be encouraged to inquiry about campus safety and ensure district- and site-level administrators are taking necessary precautions to protect students’ privacy.

Remember the pop-culture definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result? This fits like a hand to glove when we contrast the Prop 428 campaign against Peoria Unified School District’s (PUSD) failed leadership, increased cases of adult sexual misconduct and dismal academic performance.

Peoria voters should understand that Prop 428 is not a new tax—it’s a continuation of the 13% maintenance and operations (M&O) override that’s been in place since the mid-90s. When voters rejected the M&O during the 2025 special election, it sparked panic among administrators (a.k.a. the 6-figure mafia) and teachers’ union members (a.k.a. union thugs). Educators—including those who stay silent when unethical and immoral conduct occurs on campus—are suddenly very vocal about Prop 428.

When I reviewed the fiscal 2024-25 State Superintendent Annual Report, I discovered that PUSD’s local, county and state M&O total revenue was nearly $290 million. Am I the only one who wants to know exactly how, when and where that money was spent in two years?

I emailed the school board and the Deputy Superintendent of Business Operations, Marcie Rodriguez, to request a presentation clarifying the district’s spending patterns. I also asked for confirmation on whether interim superintendent Tahlya Visintainer—who also oversees human resources—is still reaping Chief Personnel Officer pay and benefits. This is the position she held until Dr. Ryan LaDouceur was ousted from the interim superintendent role.

One PUSD educator reached out to seek my support for Prop 428. She shared her love for teaching young students and said that since the 2025 override failed, her school’s financial shortfalls sometimes forced staff members to choose between purchasing toilet paper or copy paper. She said she also solicited donations from relatives and community members when she couldn’t purchase the items directly.

I did my due diligence of making a public comment and requesting a resolution for every teacher in this predicament. I also included it in my email to the board and Rodriguez, letting them know it’s entirely unacceptable for any high-level employees to receive perks, bonuses or special allowances when the most important people in the district (namely students) don’t have access to daily essentials.

I don’t believe the teacher who reached out to me was a union thug with a sob story. Union members are typically the bullying type. Their tears are false and their demands are tough. Teachers’ unions don’t exist to enhance students’ learning experience—they don’t even exist for teachers! Most members I know are activists who serve as the school district’s militant arm. They await deployment, coming out in ranks whenever the community needs to be manipulated or intimidated into silence.

Case in point: Peoria Education Association president Devon Moseler—who’s registered as a Republican 🤣 (ask LD28 “leaders” about that)—guards the podium at every PUSD board meeting. Also, when former PEA president Trina Berg makes a public comment, her requests and suggestions usually top the agenda at the next board meeting…But who knows, this could all be a coincidence, right?

As of publication, PUSD received its third notice of claim. Similar to the two students who filed a complaint against the district in the Centennial High School situation, this alleged victim has also claimed that the district was grossly negligent in the case involving former Peoria High School basketball coach Patrick Battillo (a.k.a. “Mr. ORNG”). ABC 15 News reported that Battillo was convicted of attempted exploitation of a minor and sentenced to three and half years in April.

For those unaware, PUSD has been served with four legal notices in one year—all of them accusing the district of negligence and failing to protect students from employee sexual misconduct. The two from Centennial HS students and one from a Peoria HS student are requesting a combined settlement total of $27,650,000, as of October 9. No amount has been disclosed in the case of former Sun Valley Elementary students who were abused by former teacher Ricky Ordway. Meanwhile, the district’s Prop 428 is an estimated $33,000,000 ask with an expiration date of seven years.

Since M&O funds are less regulated in terms of how the dollars are spent, is it not possible for the district to campaign on promises of improved arts, athletics and special needs programs but then reallocate those funds to cover expenses associated with pending lawsuits? Someone who knows how these things work should reach out to me. I think PUSD is luring voters into a bait and switch, and the teachers who support Prop 428 probably won’t see more than a few dimes if the ballot measure is approved.

On the contrary, when voters pass Prop 320, they’re removing some of the administrative controls that have led to financial mismanagement and corruption in many public schools. This statewide ballot measure requires districts with over 7,500 students, or counties with more than 500,000 residents, to allocate 60% of its operation budget to classrooms and teachers. In this case, the auditor general determines what meets the threshold or definition of “direct instructional expenses.” This is why organizations like the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) and Save Our Schools Arizona (SOS) oppose Prop 320. They want to maintain the status quo and stick taxpayers with the bill.

Nevertheless, Peoria taxpayers don’t owe the district anything. If one or two failed overrides can cause everything to fall apart after 20 years of guaranteed 13% approval, then there’s a bigger problem that more money won’t fix. Students are falling through the cracks, school sites are lacking basic necessities, alleged predators and failed mandated reporters are thriving after leaving the district. It appears the only way to hold PUSD accountable is to let Prop 428 fail. At least with Prop 320, we have some assurance that site funds will go towards education…hopefully.

With enrollment declining in PUSD, staff reductions and school closures are expected. This is what competition looks like in a state with a robust school choice movement. When we add up multiple cases of alleged adult sexual misconduct, anti-ICE protests, and a majority of students graduating without basic life skills, it’s clear why parents are exploring other options. A loss of market share in government education is net positive for the state and the nation at large. Parents are stepping up to do what God called them to do (Proverbs 22:6).

All this to simply say, Prop 320 makes sense but passing Prop 428 is insane.

Remember, elections have consequences.

Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) violated the law with its school closure and consolidation committee, but the county attorney says it’s too late to stop them.

The complaint was filed originally with Attorney General Kris Mayes back in April, claiming that SUSD’s Phase II Design Advisory Team, an advisory committee responsible for coming up with school closure and consolidation options, violated Open Meeting Law because it prohibited the public from attending meetings.

Mayes waited nearly three months to refer the complaint to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (MCAO); she cited a conflict of interest as the basis for not taking on the investigation herself.

MCAO told AZ Free News that Mayes didn’t refer the complaint to their office until July 17.

By then, SUSD’s Phase II Design Advisory Team had held all five of its Phase A meetings and three out of five of its Phase B meetings. The final meeting for this illicit advisory committee occurred on August 17.

Since all of the meetings have already occurred, MCAO Deputy County Attorney Caitlyn Mitchell said in a disposition letter on Tuesday that nothing could be done beyond recommending to SUSD that they not recommit a similar Open Meeting Law violation in the future and acknowledge their wrongdoing at the special meeting scheduled to occur that day.

“[I]t is too late to require SUSD to take corrective action concerning future Phase II Team meetings,” stated Mitchell. “MCAO has informed SUSD of its findings and conclusions, recommended that SUSD revise its future use of superintendent appointed committees, and requested that the SUSD Governing Board acknowledge the results of this investigation publicly at the open meeting to discuss the Phase II Team’s recommendations.”

Arizona law requires any legal action taken in a meeting that violates Open Meeting Law to be rendered null and void, unless ratification occurs under certain parameters during a public meeting within 30 days of discovery of the violation.

Non-public advisory committees have been a recurring problem for SUSD. Mayes has previously found SUSD in violation of Open Meeting Law for its use of non-public advisory committees.

During the SUSD special meeting on Tuesday, the governing board didn’t advise the public of the MCAO letter or the fact that the advisory committee responsible for creating the school closure and consolidation options had been conducted in violation of the law. It also stopped the community from making any mention of the letter.

Mike Bengert, the community member who filed the complaint, attempted to speak about the disposition letter during public comment, but Governing Board President Donna Lewis interrupted him.

SUSD counsel Renee Osipov told Bengert that he could only talk about the proposed options for school closures and consolidations.

“We’re not talking about Open Meeting Law. That’s not what we’re agendized to do,” said Osipov.

Lewis had advised at the beginning of the special meeting that public comments not addressing school closure and consolidation options were only permitted for the next meeting scheduled for October 6 — the day that SUSD is anticipated to vote on school closures.

During Tuesday’s meeting, public comment on the school closure and consolidation options lasted more than three hours.

The Phase II Design Advisory Team operated as part of three phases to close, consolidate, and repurpose schools within the district. Phase III has another non-public advisory committee: the Coronado Learning Community committee.

Bengert told AZ Free News that he filed a new Open Meeting Law complaint over Tuesday’s special meeting.

A second alleged victim has served Peoria Unified School District with a notice of claim stemming from the Centennial High School sexual misconduct case involving former teachers Hailey Beck and Angela Burlaka.

Arizona Globe reached out to board members Janelle Bowles and Heather Rooks who confirmed a second alleged victim had come forward.

In January, the district received a $20 million notice of claim from the initial alleged victim at the center of Peoria PD’s Centennial investigation. The plaintiff is accusing PUSD leadership of failing to protect him from sexual abuse. The district also came under fire for failing to follow mandatory reporting laws. Although PUSD publicly stated that former Centennial principal Scott Hollabaugh had not violated the law, public records reveal that he had received a written reprimand for mishandling complaints against Beck and Burlaka.

The district didn’t place Hollabaugh on leave and didn’t notify police.

In May, Peoria PD submitted a formal records request to the district—likely pursuing evidence that detectives would have obtained through mandated reporting protocols. Thereafter, when police sought additional information via an authorized criminal search warrant, the district rejected the summons citing student privacy and attorney-client privilege.

PUSD’s compliance failure led to a second search warrant with an accompanying police raid at district headquarters in Glendale.

The new notice of claim prompted Rooks to request an executive session for the October 8 board meeting. Board president Jeff Tobey—who voted with board members Becky Proudfit and Melissa Ewing to remove Rooks as board president earlier this year—seconded the request.

Rooks also sought a discussion to potentially waive attorney-client privilege and surrender all requested documents to Peoria PD. However, Tobey interrupted her and deferred to interim superintendent Thalya Visintainer, who said that she’d consider the request when setting the agenda.

During a Mike Broomhead interview in July, Tobey was asked about his role in blocking the search warrant. Tobey said that reports of his interference were “misinformation” since he serves as the “legal liaison between the board and the attorney” and the decision was at the district’s discretion.

A few weeks prior to that interview, PUSD spokesperson Danielle Airey told 12 News, “Because the governing board has not voted to waive attorney-client privilege, legal counsel has an obligation to preserve those protections and comply with federal student privacy laws unless directed otherwise by the board or ordered by the court.”

As board president, Tobey has the authority to set agenda items requested by board members and call for a vote to waive attorney-client privilege without permission or approval from administrative subordinates.

The next scheduled PUSD governing board meeting will be Thursday, October 8 at 6pm.

I watched the KTAR interview featuring Peoria USD board members Jeff Tobey and Becky Proudfit. What should have only taken 13 minutes took me nearly two hours to digest with all the pausing. I struggle listening to people shamelessly weave false narratives. There’s no way I can stay silent

When host Mike Broomhead asked if mandated reporting laws were followed in the case of former Centennial High School teachers Haley Beck and Angela Burlaka, Tobey claimed he was “evidence driven, process driven” and that Peoria PD “said there was no misstep when it came to mandatory reporting.”

Common sense tells me that Peoria PD’s initial investigation was primarily focused on finding evidence that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of suspected child abusers. Mandatory reporting isn’t exactly a high priority for PUSD employees since these kinds of failures have occurred before without consequences. Is it not possible for investigators to miss something, especially if sufficient evidence was withheld?

Thankfully, PUSD board member Heather Rooks sounded the alarm after she read the police report, reviewed state statutes and discovered more laws were broken.

Once Rooks learned that a mandated reporting probe wouldn’t interfere with open investigations, she went to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in her capacity as a parent and taxpayer. Rooks was within her First Amendment right to speak. It’s also her duty as a civil servant to pursue truth, even while her left-leaning colleagues vote against it.

When Broomhead stated:

Tobey replied:

So, you took part in a coup to remove Rooks from the board presidency only to abdicate your authority and defer to your subordinates in a time of crisis? Some leader you are…

On July 6, 2026, 12News reported, “The police department had previously served a search warrant earlier this year to PUSD in order to obtain documents related to the investigation into the Centennial High controversy. Attorneys representing PUSD filed a motion in Maricopa County court to restrict their access to certain records.”

Quoting PUSD Chief Communications Officer Danielle Airey, the article said, “‘Because the Governing Board has not voted to waive attorney-client privilege, legal counsel has an obligation to preserve those protections and comply with federal student privacy laws unless directed otherwise by the board or ordered by the court.’”

In other words, Tobey could have called for a vote to waive attorney-client privilege at any time. That’s what Rooks would have done if she were still board president. Tobey—who works for [Correction] Phoenix PD —should know a criminal search warrant supersedes FERPA, Title IX and all administrative rules.

As I’ve explained in previous posts, Tobey didn’t have the popularity to get elected (gee, I can’t think why 🤔). He relied heavily on Rooks’ support and the grassroots campaign led by West Valley Parents Uniting (WVPU). In a twist of irony, Tobey and Rooks were two of WVPU’s founding board members. They served in the organization together until they both resigned to run for public office.

A few years later, on a quest for power, it would be Tobey who teamed up with leftists and accused Rooks of political grandstanding as she aspired to higher office. Rooks also supposedly broke protocol by speaking to the media as an active board member.

But wait, there’s more.

On July 21, 2026, this same Tobey character appeared in an ABC15 interview to address Peoria PD’s days-long raid at the district office. Tobey said he was speaking up now because “it’s important to reach more individuals in the community…and I want to be able to share what I can.” While explaining his vote to appoint Darien Schoolcraft as Centennial’s new principal, Tobey verbally identified himself as an active board member. This fits the definition of a hypocrite:

To everyone attacking and plotting against Rooks—including the RINOs on LD28’s executive leadership team who publicly supported her demotion—you seem to have lost the real narrative. Let me refresh your memory.

This entire situation, which has gone national and inspired action from the U.S. Department of Education, started with district employees who allegedly victimized their students. Following accusations and concerns from students and community members, former Centennial principal Scott Hollabaugh (and other employees) failed to notify law enforcement.

This is not a matter of perspective or interpretation. For all the “evidence driven, process driven” hypocrites watching this saga unfold, the reality of it all can be ascertained from the investigation report. What difference does it make whether you “like” Rooks or think she’s out for political gain—she’s trying to protect children! Rooks isn’t the issue. Cover-up culture is the issue.

Proudfit—who also serves as LD28’s 4th Vice Chair—voted with Tobey and Melissa Ewing to ineffectively silence a voice calling attention to the alleged sexual exploitation of PUSD students. When Broomhead pointed out the possibility that school leadership ignored students' complaints about Beck and Burlaka, Proudfit deflected and said:

Is this not what “social emotional” gurus call victim blaming? Again, the lie about there being no record of students approaching administrators is debunked by the police report and is most likely contained in those documents Peoria PD had to pry out of the district’s hands. Hm…it seems there was a lack of cooperation somewhere that caused the system to fail. 🧐

School board members are not elected to parent the district. They sit as a body of government to hold official proceedings, not family therapy sessions. Everyone knows students use social media to express themselves, what we don’t know is how they’re responsible for employee misconduct. And why would a public official think it’s appropriate to lecture parents about their kids’ online activities when PUSD is being vetted for alleged child sex crimes that started and/or occurred on campus?

Unless I missed it, by the end of the KTAR interview, Tobey or Proudfit never condemned the alleged perpetrators’ actions. There was no warning for district employees to conduct themselves with professionalism and self-control. No apology was offered to any alleged victims or their families. I swear they were both reciting passages from a restorative justice handbook, or something. It was truly bizarre. Now do you see why it took two hours to watch?

It’s worth noting that Tobey and Proudfit have privately acquired a PR team. I guess this means we can expect their media charade to continue. No worries, keeping the record straight is what I do and I’m not going anywhere. I see 2028 on the horizon.

School board candidates often campaign on “truth,” “transparency,” and “accountability.” Tobey specifically ran on “student safety.” These are the promises K-12 parents want to hear—need to hear—before entrusting someone with their kids. I’m sorry to say those in the highest leadership positions have betrayed the public’s trust. All promises were broken the day Rooks was removed from the board presidency.

I don’t know about you, but I can clearly see who’s in this for political gain. We are where we are today because we have people in power who choose to protect institutions over children.

Arizona still ranks near the bottom

WalletHub, a personal financial website, shows Arizona’s education quality ranking at 46/51 (a slight uptick) with school safety ranking at 41/51. In light of these dismal numbers, per pupil spending is around $12,000 each year and continues to increase. Meanwhile, leftist organizations like Save Our Schools Arizona are attacking the ESA program, which spends around $7,000 to $9,000 per student and is well regulated.

Leftist outrage over school choice is disingenuous at best. At worst, liberals actually want students to graduate with little to no reading, writing, or math skills. They truly believe emotional manipulation and activism are shaping the best future for America. We will never see the same zeal, controversy, or calls to action applied to failing public schools.

Any minor improvements we are witnessing across the state are likely due to parents taking control of their children’s education. Over 100,000 families are utilizing the ESA program and this growing number frightens government school worshippers. Statistics show students learn more, test higher, and have less peer-related issues when they’re enrolled outside the public education system. Thus, school choice should always be available to K-12 families.

Leftist policies and activist influences ensure our schools primarily cater to overpaid administrators, special interest groups, and teachers’ unions. We see the expansion of immorality as they contend for children to experiment with sexual identities, hide student issues from parents, and replace legitimate education with DEI programming. I’ll add that school board members, like the radical majority in Peoria Unified (two of which claim to be “conservative”) are weak in their struggles against evil.

The little bit of progress Arizona has made will be lost if leftists take full control of education.

Team Horne vs. Team Yee

Blind loyalty is not our forte on the right, hence the sharp split between these two candidates. Ultimately, there’s no reason to pretend as if Horne and Yee are so different. Neither one is all good or all bad. Politics is a sport that’s only played in mud. It takes patience, discernment, and lots of research to wade through propaganda and foolishness.

I’ve listened to complaints against Horne and Yee: “He didn’t do enough to expand the ESA program” 😏… “She served on some DEI committee” 😒…“Both have sketchy transactions on their ledgers” 🧐…I’ve read the articles mocking both candidates. I watched Yee’s interview on Arizona’s Family slamming Horne as a “racist.” I went through Horne’s hit-piece website on Yee…🥱

Squabbles, slander, and sparring among conservatives is nothing new. When you get to the bottom of most accusations, you will likely find the same compromises, popularity contests, and public pressures that every politician buckles under. It’s like the flu, everyone will catch it at least once…especially when lobbyists come calling. The Arizona legislature itself paints a sometimes funny, sometimes frustrating picture of what a slim conservative majority can accomplish.

Inevitably, we’re going to have wishy-washy types who take the path of least resistance or avoid controversial issues altogether. I also think it’s nonsensical to “reach across the aisle” on something as crucial as school choice when conservatives appear to be winning. Then again, I’m not looking to score points with voters in an upcoming election. When you’re loyal to truth, you typically find it easier to keep priorities straight.

We also have the “ultra” grassroots, the moral absolutists who flat-out refuse to support any candidate with a blemish on their public servant record. This level of scrutiny and defiance is warranted when someone suddenly flips their ideological position or swaps parties in the next cycle (they know who they are). It’s otherwise silly to expect perfection from flawed human beings.

We need to pull the conservative votes together

The majority of voters typically fall somewhere in between the cowards and the hypocrites. The average constituent is not fully bought into the Establishment agenda of either party—they just want truth to prevail. They don’t care about lobbyists—they want the Constitution to be followed. If you run as a conservative, vote like a conservative.

“Political dynamics” are not always in the realm of our understanding. Nevertheless, we remember candidates’ campaign promises, how they smile in our face and make a point to shake our hand coming and going. In cynical terms, elections are one big social experiment with serious consequences. Still, once you know the game, you don’t hate the players as much. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Bottom line, we can only expect the failures of public education to increase if we allow a liberal takeover of key leadership positions. Team Horne, we see you, and we appreciate your turn out during the primaries. We need you turn out once more. We can work through any issue together over the next four years. Please fill in the bubble for Yee to become the next Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction on November 3, 2026. 🙏🏽

We hear this every election cycle, often enough many people tune it out—but the November 2026 election is truly critical for Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) students.

If voters do not make their voices heard, they risk losing half of the board members who challenge SUSD Superintendent Scott Menzel’s radical agenda and advocate for academic achievement.

The current Governing Board includes three progressive members who campaigned on protecting Menzel and urging parents to leave decisions about their children’s education to the “experts.” I wrote about these members when they were candidates two years ago.

Unfortunately, all three won seats on the board, and Scottsdale residents have been living with the consequences every since.

WHAT’S AT STAKE IN 2026

SUSD Board Members Amy Carney’s and Carine Werner’s terms expire, leaving two seats on the November ballot. Carney is running for reelection; Werner has chosen to focus on winning reelection to the State Senate, where she will continue fighting on behalf of Arizona’s children. Voters in LD4 should support Werner’s reelection.

Although school board elections are nonpartisan, Scottsdale Education Association has endorsed another progressive, professional educator, Dr. Jennifer Johnson, to run for one of the two open positions. In her role as Assistant VP for Academic Alliances in K–12 Educational Development at Grand Canyon University, Dr. Johnson led the Superintendents Collaborative Network, a program designed to use experienced superintendents, including Menzel, to mentor new Arizona superintendents.

It is troubling enough that the education establishment has spent decades destroying public education and training new teachers to continue the same failed approaches—now its preparing superintendents to carry them forward.

Dr. Johnson also serves on the board of Love Public Ed AZ alongside Dr. Heather Cruz, SUSD’s Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. Given these connections, it appears Dr. Johnson was recruited by Menzel to run for school board as another pro-Menzel member and a reliable vote for his agenda to disrupt and dismantle the district.

SUSD residents cannot allow this to happen.

Amy Carney must be reelected to continue fighting for academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and common sense in SUSD while pushing back against Menzel’s radical agenda.

Jeanne Beasley should be elected to join Amy in that effort. Beasley has deep roots in Scottsdale, having lived there 30 years and raised three children who attended SUSD schools.

On November 3, 2026, Scottsdale voters must send a clear message to Menzel and progressives on the SUSD Governing Board: we will not stand by while he continues to disrupt and dismantle SUSD.

After calling a special meeting to remove PUSD Board Member Heather Rooks from her role as board president, the radical leftist majority—Jeff Tobey, Becky Proudfit, and Melissa Ewing—are hosting another special meeting on Tuesday, May 19th at 11am (while parents and community members are working) to replace interim superintendent Dr. Ryan LaDoucer.

Since Tobey and Proudfit once supported LaDoucer, the sudden flip is highly questionable. It wouldn’t surprise me if this were due to Rooks’ outspoken support for him replacing superintendent Dr. KC Somers. PUSD parents and community members are convinced a cover up of sexual abuse is still happening in Centennial High School, and the district at large. The moves we’re now seeing by the radical majority only solidify their suspicions. Both AZ State Superintendent Tom Horne and Maricopa County Superintendent Shelli Boggs publicly addressed the issue surrounding Centennial principal Scott Hollabaugh’s alleged failure to follow mandated reporting laws.

If you still think this is about one board member (or you’re lost in that retarded Republican LD28 sauce), you’re missing the bigger picture. What’s happening in PUSD is happening all over Arizona, and the United States. Giving standing ovations to a worthless superintendent and allowing administrators to carry on as if no laws were broken is evil work. On November 19, 2025, a student was reportedly raped after being lured into an unlocked classroom at Orangewood Elementary School.

Arizona’s Family headline says, “Sex offender allegedly posed as doctor, assaulted young girl at Phoenix school.” Orangewood has a physical address in Phoenix but is governed by the Washington Elementary School District, which is headquartered in Glendale.

According to the report, an unnamed employee was placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.

During the November 20 school board meeting, one parent from Orangewood stated that he was “disappointed” and “pissed off” about how WESD handled the situation. He said he received an email at noon on November 19 announcing that the school was locked down. The next morning, around 8 am, he received another email that said a student had been attacked. He learned from sources outside of WESD that the student was raped on school grounds.

Another parent wept as she expressed how her trust in the district had been broken due to the lack of communication and failure to follow safety procedures. She said she always shows identification before entering a school building and did not understand why that protocol wasn’t followed this time.

WESD’s public statement says, in part:

On Wednesday, November 19, Orangewood administration was made aware of an unauthorized male on campus…Upon investigation, it was determined that the individual gained access behind a student who was buzzed in through the main entrance. He was on campus for approximately 10 minutes, and during that time, he made inappropriate contact with a student.

Although Open Meeting Laws bar school board members from directly responding to public comments, none of the representatives formally acknowledged the victim or her family during their speeches.

WESD Board President Kyle Clayton—one of five board members who voted to terminate student-teaching contracts with a Christian university—claimed they were unable to comment due to an open investigation.

The report on Average ACT Test Scores By State Graduating Class of 2025 shows that Arizona public schools are still failing our students. A Legal Process highlighted the results, stating:

From the data on the class of 2025, college admissions officers and future employers can reasonably conclude that if the applicant is a graduate of Arizona schools, more likely than not, they cannot proficiently read, write, perform math, or understand science in comparison to their peers.

A Legal Process also noted that a majority of Arizona’s 2025 graduates failed to meet one core academic benchmark. “55% of Arizona’s students can graduate high school and still not demonstrate college-ready level of competency in a single core academic subject matter,” the publication said.

World Population Review published Public School Rankings by State 2025, which shows Arizona dead last overall in four categories: K-12 performance, school funding and resources, higher education quality, and safety. This is corroborated by Consumer Affairs, which rated Arizona number one on its list entitled “Which states rank poorly for education?”

Arizona wastes between $10,000 and $14,000 per student, depending on the source. Meanwhile, the average ESA is estimated between $6,000 and $9,000 for students in 1st through 12th grade. Current trends also reveal that K-12 families are ditching government education at an impressive rate. Even if these calculations are off by 10 decimal points, my conclusion remains the same: The A-F School Letter Grade classification system is a complete joke, and school choice is the one good thing happening in Arizona education.

Superintendents are a financial burden for taxpayers

On September 21, 2025, the Goldwater Institute published a report titled “The Hidden Ways Arizona School Superintendents Are Paid. In the opening paragraph, it states:

Arizona school district superintendents receive high salaries. Yet, the true scale of that pay is often obscured by a triangle of complex contract provisions that school boards, and the superintendents themselves, deliberately design to mask the full measure of compensation from taxpayers…

These same school districts go to great lengths to block access to superintendent contracts—in some cases even from their own board members—shielding from the public how tax dollars enrich those who often are their community’s highest-paid public employees.

The Institute requested more than 40 superintendent contracts—official records that should be accessible to the general public—only to receive the documents after four months of repeated requests and warnings of potential litigation. The following information is also sourced from their report:

• Not including health insurance or pension costs, Arizona superintendents’ base salaries average $215,000 a year, while taxpayers are charged up to $490,000 per superintendent after accounting for “lucrative perks.”

• In addition to pension benefits, several school districts are double-charging taxpayers for superintendents’ retirement packages.

• Taxpayers are funding superintendents’ personal and vacation leave to the tune of 15 weeks off, when combined with school holidays. When vacation days are unused, superintendents receive a payout in the form of additional compensation.

Goldwater rightly called attention to Tolleson Union High School District Superintendent Jeremy Calles, who makes off with roughly $500,000 a year. Although Tolleson ranks as the 16th largest district in the state, Calles earns at least $100,000 more than any other Arizona Superintendent. Not surprisingly, he was accused of financial misconduct and, according to ABC 15, the auditor general’s investigation into Calles is expected to be completed by January 2027.

Notably, Calles also stands accused of inflating enrollment numbers, loaning $25 million to the Isaac School District, and allowing one teacher to resign with full benefits after complaints that the former employee had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Regardless, Calles appears to have an explanation for everything. And, despite the embarrassing controversy, he still finds half a million reasons to show up for work.

In his October 2025 superintendent message, Calles declared:

“There are so many good things happening [in] our district right now that it is difficult to put them all into one newsletter…Our letter grades continue to rise…Success is not without consequence. If we are going to be the best district in the state, then we cannot get there by trying to do what everyone else is doing; we have to innovate.”

He signed off by stating that how Tolleson residents respond to a bond and override this November will “reveal how the community feels about the direction of the district.” I know how I would vote if I lived in Tolleson—it’s the same way I’m voting in Peoria.

Business as usual?

If you’re anything like me, you’re a fish out of water when it comes to district finance. Simple is the only way I know how to be. Thus, maintenance and overrides (M&O) allow school districts to exceed their budget for salaries and daily operations by 15% in most cases. M&O’s are marketed to the public as a means to “enhance student safety and special education programs.” School districts often promise teachers higher pay or warn them about pay cuts, which usually leads to strong support for overrides from radical teachers’ unions.

Tax increases are presented in fractions and decimals and crumbs, instead of the sum total. Consequently, landowners must research their property value before they can know the full size of their “fraction.” Just in case someone is thinking it: the government shutdown has nothing to do with the financial conditions in Arizona schools. Most districts have been spending 15% more than their budget for many years, and it’s obvious that district leaders expect taxpayers to continue this tradition.

In August 2025, AZ Free News reported:

Despite a 5% drop in district school enrollment since 2019, Arizona’s public-school districts have continued to expand facilities, increase capital spending by 67% to $8.9 billion, and boost transportation costs by 11.3% to $561.2 million, even as eligible bus riders plummeted by 45%...The fastest-shrinking districts have increased capital spending the most, with 20% of districts (serving 73% of students) receiving 81% of capital funding.

Let’s be real: Taxpayers are not investing in gifted programs or sponsoring all-day kindergarten. This, my fellow proletariats, is what you call a bailout.

Surprisingly, several conservative board members have fallen in line with overpaid, agenda-driven administrators to push for excessive spending. No government problem has ever been solved by throwing more money at it—Arizona schools are no exception. The root word of conservative is “conserve,” which means to safeguard, protect, take care of, sustain, and prolong. A 15% override in our current climate of failing public schools does not protect or sustain taxpayers—it feeds a system of corruption.

Rather than tell Arizonans how to vote in this election, I will refer you back to the information covered in this post. I encourage parents, property owners, and slighted educators to use sound judgment at the ballot box. Remember, the most basic definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.

Again, I’m no mathematician. But I’m willing to believe that at least a significant portion of the funds required to increase teacher salaries, enhance special needs programs, and implement cutting-edge safety plans can be found in the bank accounts of every district’s highest-paid employee.

Transgenderism is a false ideology that says humans can “transition” from one gender/sex to another, or identify as something else on an imaginary spectrum. Transgenderism (the T in LGBT) is a dangerous lie that breeds perversion, mental illness, and self-harm. Even some LGB community members reject the rainbow activism that’s ravaging America’s youth. Not everyone is on board with waving a Pride flag and marching naked in the streets, as leftists would have us believe.

Although Scripture opposes alternative lifestyles, believers can respectfully disagree with adults’ choices while fighting against a common enemy of transgenderism in upcoming generations. Conservative LGB individuals are actually the “low-hanging fruit” of the Great Commission and legitimate revival. Unfortunately, though, many Christians are too passive, judgmental, or biblically illiterate to effectively confront sin while winning souls. We settle for inviting the lost to a building and exposing them to watered-down preaching instead of ushering them into the Kingdom directly. Nobody should have to wait until Sunday morning to hear the gospel.

But I digress.

Transgenderism in public schools

Remember the 2021 landmark “transgender” assault case in Loudoun County Public Schools? LCPS board meetings erupted with angry parents—including the enraged father of the first rape victim—after learning that males were allowed in female bathrooms. LCPS covered up the sex crime by transferring the cross-dressing boy to another school, where he attacked and nearly killed another girl. Despite a special grand jury finding LCPS officials liable in both incidents, they continued to implement and enforce DEI policies and practices across the district.

As of September 16, 2025, LCPS was one of five Virginia school districts under investigation by the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) for violating Title IX laws. Female students are not the only ones at risk of being violated on school grounds. In fact, the initial OCR report cited LCPS’s failure to properly investigate harassment complaints from boys who encountered female classmates in male-designated spaces. The OCR Acting Secretary was quoted as stating, “‘Loudoun County’s adherence to radical gender ideology has repeatedly placed students in harm’s way.’”

Truly, LCPS is a prototype for systematically destroying the lives of K-12 students and families.

The evils of transgerderism also spread to Arlington Public Schools when a repeat sex offender exposed himself to female students at the Washington-Liberty High School pool. According to Fox News, Arlington Superintendent Francisco Duran sent a letter to parents, claiming that the predator “was not present during school hours and that the pool has a separate entrance [from] the school.” Duran also reportedly declared that his district “will continue to foster an inclusive community for all, including [individuals] who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.”

In July 2025, SCOTUS decided by a 6-3 vote that parents in Montgomery County Public Schools could opt their children out of LGBTQ+ lessons. This is good news for parents everywhere! A press release from the National Constitution Center said the parents sued MCPS “after the board changed its prior policy of sending parental notifications when materials such as Pride storybooks were discussed in class.” Essentially, MCPS violated the First Amendment rights and religious freedoms of parents who want to control how and when sexual content is introduced to their elementary-aged children.

Something is terribly wrong in a nation where adults prey on prepubescent children’s bodies, where kindergartners participate in mock gay wedding ceremonies, and “rainbow counselors” are vying for increased, unspervised access to students. It’s especially alarming when government workers like this former Peoria Unified employee believe they have a right to engage minors in sexual and “transgender” discussions without parental knowledge or consent.

Sex education: The gateway to perversion

Sex education—marketed as teaching “inclusiveness” and “consent”—is the floodgate through which all forms of immorality flow into public schools. The Sex Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) is the most prominent peddler of perversion to K-12 students. Founded in 1964 by Mary S. Calderone (d. 1998), the first female medical director at Planned Parenthood, SIECUS claims to “advocate for transformative public policies, build robust cross-movement coalitions…[and ensure] sex education drives social change.” In the early 2000s, SIECUS intensified its efforts to advance sex education standards and influence federal and state laws, as well as local policies.

This points to a deeper sickness in society, and it reveals how far rainbow activists have driven us over the edge of sanity. In just one generation, we went from recognizing LGBTQ+ “rights” to full-on lawfare and persecution of heterosexuals and Christians. We have a whole month designated to gay pride and dozens of sexuality “awareness” days. Females are undergoing double mastectomies and reconstructing their chest to appear more masculine (“top surgery”) while males are castrating and reconstructing their genitals to function like female anatomy (“bottom surgery”). Even without surgeries, the Dr. Frankenstein pediatricians are prescribing cross sex hormones and puberty blockers, knowing that these chemicals can sterilize and permanently disfigure growing bodies.

I’m not arguing whether body dysmorphia or gender dysphoria are real diagnoses. Regardless, there’s no legitimate data that supports treating these conditions in children with chemical castration drugs, elective surgeries, or name and pronoun swapping. “Gender affirming care” is evil at every phase. Public schools (and increasingly some private schools) are the battlefield, as leftist board members, administrators, educators, and staff position themselves as the enemy of parental rights. Thankfully, we are winning in the courts, and thousands of children will never undergo “transgender” medical malpractice! Still, parents must remain vigilant in the ongoing warfare to reclaim moral authority in their children’s lives.

The demise of transgenderism

Everyone who believes they’re living in the wrong body is eternally disconnected from their Creator (Gen. 1:27-28). Transgenderism is a dangerous delusion that seeks to medicate, mutilate, and suspend reality for temporary issues that are resolved 80% of the time by simply going through puberty. K-12 families should reconsider state-funded education to avoid sacrificing the other 20% on the altar of identity crises. If we want American society to thrive, we must operate in accordance with objective truth and the biblical prescription for human sexuality.

No one has ever “transitioned” their gender. No one ever will. And just so we’re all clear—the rainbow has seven colors, not six. God created the rainbow after wiping sinful human beings off the earth in a catastrophic Flood (Gen. 9). To avoid the wrath of God, “transgender” activists would do well to heed the warning in Matthew 18:1-6.

It is time for transgenderism to die.
